PROTECTIVE FABRICS.....between you and disaster.
At Barrier Wear we pride ourselves on selecting and using only those fabric product lines who retain performance standards and characteristics typical of flame resistant fabrics currently in the industrial workplace. These include adequate strength for rigorous work activity and industrial washing, fabric style, color, versatility, and comfort. The following is a brief summary of the fabric properties that we use at Barrier Wear in constructing our wildland series:

INDURA® PROBAN FR COTTON
Durable flame resistant cotton fabric treated with Proban flame retardant chemicals, designed to significantly extend the wash durability(avg. 20+ over FR7A Cotton). INDURA® fabrics are guaranteed to retain their flame resistance for the useful life of the garment when maintained in accordance with the manufacturers instructions. The average life expectancy of INDURA® garments is estimated to range from 40-60 servings. INDURA® Proban cotton fabrics are self-extinguishing and typically produce short char lengths of 2-3 inches.

CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS:
No chlorine bleach • Detergent only • Dry cleanable • Wash durable to a temperature of 185°

INDURA® ® ULTRA SOFT®
A fully flame resistant blend of 88% cotton and 12% high tenacity nylon. The product is engineered to focus the excellent abrasion resistance of the nylon on the face of the fabric to enhance garment wear life, while the cotton fibers are focused towards the skin to optimize comfort. The addition of 12% nylon in no way represents a hazard to the wearer. In fact, the nylon actually enhances the protective performance in some cases, such as an electric arc and flash fire exposure. The significant increase in the abrasion resistance has been demonstrated to increase the garment life expectancy conservatively by 50% over 100% cotton fabrics.

Nomex® ® IIIA
Nomex® IIIA is an inherently flame resistant, anti-static fiber blend manufactured only by DuPont. Nomex® IIIA dissipates electrical charges in the fabric, providing an added level of comfort against static. Garments of Nomex® IIIA will not burn in the air, melt, or drip. The flame resistance of Nomex® IIIA is built into the fiber itself. Unlike chemically treated flame retardant fabrics like FR Cotton, the protection of Nomex® IIIA cannot be washed out or worn away.

ADVANCE
Advance™ is a 60% Kevlar / 40% Nomex® fabric blend. Kevlar and Nomex® IIIA are inherently flame- resistant fibers, eliminating the need for chemical treatments or artificial enhancements. With protection that's permanently built into the fabric, Advance™ remains strong and flexible after extreme thermal exposure. Two-ply yarn of Nomex® IIIA and Kevlar® is woven into Advance™ providing exceptional cut and tear resistance for longer wear life and built in protection.

Nomex® ® FLEECE
Nomex® Fleece is produced by Huntingdon Mills, Canada, is considered to be amongst the best fleece garments produced in the world. Flamestop™ is made entirely from DuPont's high performance Nomex® IIIA flame resistant fiber. Flamestop™ fleece has been tested against the strictest of North American standards for flash fire and electrical arc exposure, and has achieved very high results.
